I love my Bath Tub Santa, and these cookies.! They are very simular to a Russian Tea Cake or a Mexican Wedding Cookie. My recipe uses whole wheat flour, and almond flavoring. This gives them an wonderful different taste. Maybe the use of anise extract would an be a nice flavor change also. I am sure Santa would approve. When you wind santa up ,his arm goes up and down, like he is scrubbing himself!...LOL nancy...12/15/12

Ingredients For santas snow balls.. (cookies)

  • 2 c
    whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1-1/4 c
    old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 c
    soft butter
  • 1-1/2 tsp
    almond flavoring
  • 1/2 c
    powdered sugar
  • extra powdered sugar to roll cookies in

How To Make santas snow balls.. (cookies)

    Beat butter till creamy, in a large bowl. Gradually beat in powdered sugar, salt,almond flavoring,and flour. Add the oats and stir. *NOTE: Old fashioned oats or quick oats can be used. I think there is a little bit more flavor with the old time oats.THey are not ground up like the instant oats are.

    Make balls of dough about 1 inch round and place on a ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a pre-heated 350F oven ..for about 20 minutes.

    While warm ...roll in powdered sugar. Put cookies on a rack to cool. Then roll again in powdered sugar . Makes about 3 dozen. Enjoy....I know SANTA does! His cookie plate is always empty!!
