1 tspgrated ginger

1orange, zested

1/4 corange juice

2 1/4 call-purpose flour

1/2 tspcoarse sea salt

1/4 tsptable salt

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 cunsalted butter, softened

1/2 cshortening
-
1/2 cwhite sugar
-
1 cbrown sugar
-
1 1/2 Tbspvanilla extract

2 lgeggs

2 cdark chocolate chips

coarse sea salt, for garnish
How To Make salted dark chocolate cookies

1Grate fresh ginger.

2Zest an orange.

3Combine flour, sea salt, table salt, baking soda, zested orange peel, and grated ginger in a bowl.

4Using a mixer, in a separate bowl, cream the butter, shortening, white sugar, brown sugar, orange juice, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.

5One at a time, add eggs to the wet mixture mixing well after each egg.

6Fold dry ingredients and chocolate chips into the wet ingredients.

7Chill for about 15 minutes. While chilling, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.

8Drop onto a buttered cookie sheet by the spoonful.

9Bake for 8-10 minutes until light golden brown and still a little soft in the middle.

10Immediately after removing them from the pan, sprinkle just a pinch of coarse salt on the tops of the cookies.
