I remember eating these wonderful cookies when Mom baked them when I was little. The brown sugar frosting is incredible too!

  • 1 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 c
    pumpkin, canned
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 c
    powdered sugar

How To Make pumpkin cookies, mom's

  • 1
    Mix shortening, sugar, egg, pumpkin, vanilla, flour, powder, soda, cinnamon and salt. Bake at 350 degrees 12-15 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets and cool. Heat brown sugar, milk and butter to boiling, boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat and cool. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Spread on cooled cookies.
