The best recipes come from the heart and from the friends and family you encounter along the way. Los Alamos National Laboratory is a huge scientific facility in the heart of the mountains north of Santa Fe. This was where the first atomic bomb was designed and built. The cafeteria had excellent food, but the best, and always on hand, was the pumpkin cookies. My friend, Virginia Candelaria cut the original recipe to what you see here. I bet, if you visit LANL today, they will still have these cookies. I was lucky to have worked and met many lifelong friends here.
