This was a handwritten recipe in my Mom's collection. I remember them as good but have not tried out the recipe for years.

Ingredients For old fashioned crispette squares (dated 1950)
- CRUST:

1/4 ccrisco

1/2 cbrown sugar

1 cflour
-
1/8 tspsalt

1/4 tspnutmeg
- TOPPING:

1 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

2well beaten eggs
-
1/4 tspsalt
-
1 tspvanilla
-
1 ccoconut
-
1 1/2 crice crispie cereal

1/2 cchopped nuts
How To Make old fashioned crispette squares (dated 1950)

1Cream 1/4 cup Crisco and 1/2 cup brown sugar Sift together 1 cup flour, 1/8 tsp. salt, 1/4 tps nutmeg. With fork or pastry blender cut Crisco mixture into flour mixture until well blended. Press into a 9 inch square (parchment paper lined) pan. Bake 15 minutes in 350 degree oven.

2Add 1 cup brown sugar to 2 well beaten eggs. Stir to mix. Add 1/4 tsp salt, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 cup coconut,mix well. Stir in 1 1/2 cup rice crispies, 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Spread over baked layer and continue baking 24 minutes more. Cut into squares while warm.
