I was given this recipe by a friend of mine. It comes from a organization compiled cookbook put together by a church ladies group in 1969. This one is by Elizabeth Bundy. I know it's a good one!

Ingredients For ol' fashioned puffy sugar cookies

1 cbrown sugar

1 tspvanilla

3eggs
-
5 call-purpose flour

1 tspbaking soda in 4 tablespoons of water

1 cshortening
-
1 tspcream of tartar

1 tspnutmeg

1 cgranulated sugar

1 tspsalt

1 cbuttermilk
How To Make ol' fashioned puffy sugar cookies

1Mix all together and drop from a spoon on a prepared (sprayed) cookie sheet. Flatten with the bottom of a drinking glass dampened and dipped in sugar. Bake at 375 degrees until light brown.
