Ingredients For oatmeal cookies

  • 1/3 c
    shortening
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 c
    flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp
    allspice, ground
  • 1 1/4 c
    quick cooking rolled oats
  • 1/2 c
    raisin

How To Make oatmeal cookies

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Grease cookie sheet.

    With wooden spoon, cream together shortening, sugar, and brown sugar.

    Add egg, milk, and vanilla.

    Mix well.

    In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice.

    Stir spice into creamed mixture. (To measure 1/8 tsp., measure 1/4 tsp. and with narrow spatula push half off.)

    Add oats and raisins.

    Mix well.

    Drop rounded teaspoosfuls onto greased cookie sheet.

    Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden brown.

    Use wide spatula to remove cookies from cookie sheet.

    Cool on cooling rack.
