This recipe comes from my niece Emily (Beach) Metzgar. I love that this is a slightly different chocolate cookie because of the molasses in it.

1 1/2 cpacked brown sugar

1 csugar

4 Tbspmilk

2 Tbspvanilla

1 Tbspmolasses

2 lgeggs

3 1/2 cflour

2 tspsalt

1 1/2 tspbaking soda

2 cchocolate chips
How To Make new and improved chocolate cookies!

1Preheat oven to 350 F. Cream together the shortening, butter, sugars, milk, vanilla & molasses. Blend until creamy. Blend in eggs. Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Add to creamy mixture gradually. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. Cool on baking sheet 2 minutes. Remove to cooling rack. Makes 5 dozen cookies.

2Tip: add extra flour for a thicker, chewier cookie (1/2-1 cup at first, add more if desired). Or add a cup of oatmeal--this recipe is very flexible
