Ingredients For nanaimo bars

  • LAYER #1
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    cocoa powder
  • 1
    egg,beaten
  • 1 1/2 c
    graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 c
    coconut
  • 1/2 c
    walnuts
  • LAYER #2
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 3 Tbsp
    heavy cream
  • 2 Tbsp
    vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 c
    icing sugar*
  • LAYER #3
  • 1 c
    semi sweet chocolate
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • *ICING SUGAR IS REALLY CONFECTIONER'S SUGAR

How To Make nanaimo bars

  • 1
    Layer #1: In a double boiler,melt the butter,sugar and cocoa powder. Fold in the egg. Stir until thickened, then remove at once from heat. Fold in the remaining ingredients. Press into a 9x9 inch pan.

    Layer #2: Cream together the butter,cream and pudding mix. Fold in the sugar. Beat until very light. Pour on top of the cookie crust.

    Layer #3: In a double boiler, melt the chocolate. Fold in the butter. Cool. Pour onto second layer. Refrigerate for 2 hours. Cut and serve.
