mom's rum balls

While going through some of my mother's handwritten cookbooks, I found this recipe and remember how yummy they are. Unfortunately she did not state how many servings it makes. I am assuming a couple dozen.

Ingredients For mom's rum balls

  • 1 lb
    vanilla wafers ground fine
  • 1/2 c
    rum (yes you read correctly)
  • 1/2 c
    white karo
  • 1 c
    pecan meal (pecans ground fine)

How To Make mom's rum balls

    Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Let stand overnight at room temp.

    Sift powdered sugar on wax paper. Form balls (size of hickorynuts), roll in powdered sugar until well coated.

    Store at least 24 hours before serving. Do not pack layers on top of each otehr. Store in air tight container.
