Ingredients For mom's date balls

  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1 c
    chopped dates
  • 1 c
    chopped nuts
  • 1 md
    egg
  • 2 c
    rice krispy cereal
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • flaked coconut

How To Make mom's date balls

  • 1
    Mix the first 5 ingredients in a saucepan and cook slowly over medium-low heat until thick , about 10 minutes. Remove from heat; add vanilla and cereal, mix well and let cool until you can handle it with buttered or sprayed hands. Pinch off small pieces and roll into balls and then roll into the coconut. Set aside to set. Store lightly covered.
