This was a favorite cookie growing up and still is. These are a great addition to any holiday cookie platter for fall and winter. If you love molasses flavor, you'll go crazy for these and they're totally addictive. Yummmmm!!! :)

Ingredients For molasses crinkles

3/4 cshortening
-
1 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1egg
-
1/4 cmolasses
-
2 1/4 call purpose flour
-
2 tspbaking soda
-
1/4 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspcloves
-
1 tspcinnamon
-
1 tspginger
How To Make molasses crinkles

1Mix shortening, sugar, egg and molasses thoroughly. Combine dry ingredients and add to first mixture. Chill for about 1 hr.

2Roll into balls about the size of a large walnut. Dip tops in sugar and place sugar side up on greased cookie sheets abot 2" apart.

3Dip tip of finger in a small cup of water and touch the top of each cookie to wet the sugar (that's what makes the crackle effect when baked.)

4Bake at 375* for 10-12 minutes. Cool for a few minutes and remove to cooling rack. Makes 4 dozen.
