My great aunt use to make these cookies. I'm not sure where she got the recipe, but probably from her mother. Cook time is per cookie sheet, and will depend on the size of your oven and the number of cookie sheets you have! 1 hour of prep time is chilling time.

1/2 cshortening

1 cbutter, softened

1/2 csugar

1/2 cpowdered sugar, sifted

1 lgegg

1 1/2 tspinstant coffee granules

1 1/2 tspwater

2 1/2 call purpose flour

1/2 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

3 Tbspcocoa

1/2 tspcream of tartar

1 cmilk chocolate morsels

2/3 cchopped pecans

How To Make mocha chip cookies

1Beat the shortening and softened butter in a large mixing bowl at medium speed until fluffy. Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and the powdered sugar. Beat well.

2Add the egg, beating well.

3Dissolve the coffee granules in the water. Add to the creamed mixture, beating well.

4In another bowl, combine the flour and the next 5 ingredients. Gradually add to the creamed mixture, beating well. Stir in the chocolate morsels and the chopped pecans. Cover, and chill for 1 hour.

5Shape into 1/2 inch balls. Roll in the additional sugar. Place on a ightly greased cookie sheet. Press with a fork to flatten. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
