These are another one of the recipes from New Mexico box -saved from 1960 and given to me by Mrs. Chase.The recipe card said from Mrs.Conway's cooking class. These cookies are so good and easy to make that you will want to make them to give as gifts this holiday season. I make these every year!

Ingredients For merry christmas frosted snowballs
- COOKIES:

5 call purpose flour( or 4 c. flour and 1 c. powdered sugar)depends on how sweet you like your cookies

1 tspbaking powder

1 tspsalt
-
1/2 cbutter, unsalted,melted and cooled

1/3 chalf & half coffee cream or heavy cream
-
2 lgeggs, lightly beaten
-
1 cgranulated sugar
-
1 tspvanilla
-
1 tspmaraschino cherry juice
-
1 cfinely chopped nuts of choice

10 ozjar maraschino cherries, drain , chop and dry
- GLAZE:

2 Tbspbutter
-
4-5 Tbspmaraschino cherry juice

2 cpowdered sugar- more or less
How To Make merry christmas frosted snowballs

1Combine the first 3 ingredients in a small bowl; whisk and set aside. Beat together the eggs,sugar and vanilla in a larger mixer bowl for 3 minutes. Add cooled butter, cream, and cherry pieces to the egg mixture.

2Using the paddle of the mixer now, add the flour mixture and nuts to the mixture; blend until dough holds to the paddle. Remove dough. Place on plastic wrap and shape into a disk- wrap and chill for 30 minutes.

3Heat oven to 350^. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or grease well. Set aside. Remove dough from refrigerator and scoop small amounts of dough about the size of a doughnut ball. Place on cookie sheets . Bake 10-12 minutes. Allow cookies to cool completely before glazing.

4Glaze: Heat butter and 2 Tablespoons of the cherry juice in a microwave safe bowl until butter melts. Stir in 2 cups of the powdered sugar. Add more juice to make of desired consistency for glaze. Glaze the whole cookie and place on a wire rack with a wax paper under the rack to catch any drips, until glaze has set.
