My aunt gave this recipe to my Mom in the 40's or 50's. They were always made for the holiday season only. I remember making these with my Mom.

- DRY INGREDIENTS: MIX TOGETHER AND SET ASIDE

4 cflour, sifted

2 tspbaking soda

1 tspsalt

2 tspginger
-
2 tspcinnamon

2 tspcloves
- LIQUID INGREDIENTS

2 stickmargarine

2eggs

1/2 cmolasses

2 csugar

1Sift together all dry ingredients.

2Cream margarine and sugar. Add molasses and eggs and beat until somewhat fluffy. Hint: Lightly oil the measuring cup that you measure the molasses in - this allows it all to come easily out of the cup.

3Slowly add dry ingredients to liquid ingredients. Refrigerate overnight.

4Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

5Make cinnamon sugar: 1 c. sugar plus 1 tsp. cinnamon mixed together well. Measure chilled dough into 1 TB balls and roll in the cinnamon sugar.

6Place on a lightly sprayed cookie sheet Bake for 9 to 12 min. at 325 degrees. For softer cookies - bake only 9 or 10 min.
