Got this from a friend in Atlanta! So, so good and good for you, too! Try this...substitute dried cranberries for the dates and waluts instead of the chocolate. I did and it was awesome!

Ingredients For heart smart cookies

6 Tbspbutter, unsalted

3/4 cpacked, light brown sugar

1/3 call purpose flour

1/3 cwhole wheat flour

3/4 tspbaking soda

1 1/2 coats, regular
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1egg, lightly beaten
-
1 tspvanilla extract
-
1 cdates, chopped and pitted
-
3 ozcoarsely chopped bittersweet chocolate
How To Make heart smart cookies

1Preheat oven to 350* Melt butter in saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat, add brown sugar, Stir until smooth.

2In a medium bowl, combine both flours, baking soda, oats, and salt.

3Combine butter mixture with dry ingredients, and add egg, vanilla, and dates. Fold in chocolate. Batter will be stiff.

4Mix well, spoon by tablespoon onto lightly greased baking sheets.

5Bake for 12 minutes or until tops are dry to touch. Makes 32 cookies.
