Ingredients For green tomato mincemeat

  • 2 qt
    chopped green tomatoes
  • 2 qt
    chopped apples
  • 1 lb
    raisins
  • 1 lb
    currants
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    vinegar
  • 2 c
    mollasses
  • 5 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    cloves
  • 4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    nutmeg

How To Make green tomato mincemeat

    Cover the tomatoes with water, scald and drain.
  • 2
    Combine tomatoes with apples, raisins, currants, vinegar, mollasses and spices in a big enamel kettle. Cook all together until thick and dark. This should take about 2 hours.

    Pour into sterile jars,seal,process in a hot water bath 10 minutes. I have froze this for a year also and it was very good.
