grandma miller’s snickerdoodles

Jeanne, my late beloved mother-in-law, gave me her recipe for “Sugar Cookies” shortly after I married her son. She made them often, but each family especially enjoyed their plate of cookies, half of a brandied fruitcake, and other treats when they headed home after dinner and presents on Christmas Eve. Jeanne loved to tell the story of Gary, a friend of her 5 boys, returning home from Vietnam after being seriously wounded. He missed her cookies so when he finally got to their house to visit, she was making them. They all disappeared by the time he left. Good memories of two good people.
