Yet another of my Christmas cookie recipes. I know you're supposed to cut them out into gingerbread men, but I just cut them out in whatever shapes I want. I'm a rebel like that! LOL These are really good! I hope you enjoy! Note: 1 hour of prep time is to chill the dough.

Ingredients For gingerbread cookies

  • 2 1/4 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1/2 c
    molasses
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1 tsp
    ginger
  • 1 tsp
    cloves
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • dried currants for decoration (optional)

How To Make gingerbread cookies

  • 1
    Mix ingredients together. Refrigerate for 1 hour, then roll out on a lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out and place 1/2 inch apart on baking sheet. If using currants, place them as desired for decoration. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
