Yet another of my Christmas cookie recipes. I know you're supposed to cut them out into gingerbread men, but I just cut them out in whatever shapes I want. I'm a rebel like that! LOL These are really good! I hope you enjoy! Note: 1 hour of prep time is to chill the dough.

Ingredients For gingerbread cookies

2 1/4 cflour

1/2 csugar

1/2 cshortening

1/2 cmolasses

1egg
-
1 1/2 tspcinnamon

1/2 tspnutmeg

1 tspginger

1 tspcloves

1 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt
-
dried currants for decoration (optional)
How To Make gingerbread cookies

1Mix ingredients together. Refrigerate for 1 hour, then roll out on a lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out and place 1/2 inch apart on baking sheet. If using currants, place them as desired for decoration. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
