This has been in our family for over 60 years. One of our "go to" cookies! I've added a some chopped crystalized ginger to the topping for a little twist.

Ingredients For ginger snaps

1 csugar

3/4 cshortenting

1egg

4 Tbspmolasses

2 cup cflour
-
2 tspbaking soda

1 tspginger

1 tspcinnamon

1/2 tspcloves

1 tspsalt
How To Make ginger snaps

1Cream sugar and shortening, add the egg and molasses.

2Combine flour, soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. Add to wet mixture and mix gently.

3Chill in refrigerator for 1/2 hour. Take batter and roll into 1 inch balls. Dip balls in sugar before baking. I added a little chopped crystalized ginger to the sugar for a little extra ginger flavor.

4Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.
