I have tried unsuccessfully to find a good molasses cookie recipe, until I visited my aunt Doris! These are wonderful cookies.

Ingredients For ginger cookies

1 csugar

3/4 cbutter flavor shortening

1egg
-
1/4 cmolasses
-
2 c+ 1 tblsp all purpose flour

1/2 tspground cloves
-
1 tspground ginger
-
1 tspcinnamon
-
2 tspbaking soda
-
1/2 tspsalt
How To Make ginger cookies

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2Cream shortening and sugar until light.

3Add egg and beat until fluffy.

4Beat in molasses until completely incorporated.

5Sift (or whisk) together flour, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda and salt.

6Add to flour mixture to shortening and sugar mixture, and mix to combine.

7Roll into 1" balls and roll in sugar.

8Place on cookie and press down lightly with a glass dipped in sugar.

9Bake @ 350 degrees for 14-15 minutes.
