My mother used to make these cookies when I was young. I remember the sweet smell of the cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. She would bake them and then put them in my favorite Teddy Bear cookie jar. THE BEST!!!

Ingredients For gae delights

2 craisins

2/3 cwater
-
1 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1/2 cshortening

2eggs
-
2 call purpose flour
-
1 coatmeal, uncooked

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspbaking powder
-
1 tspcinnamon
-
1/4 tspcloves
-
1/4 tspnutmeg
-
1/2 tspsalt
How To Make gae delights

1Boil together raisins and water until raisins are tender. Remove from heat. Save 1/2 c water for later.

2Sift together flour baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves nutmeg and salt. Set aside

3Cream together Brown sugar and shortening. Add the 2 eggs.

4Add dry ingredients including oatmeal, alternating with the 1/2 cup of reserved raisin water.

5Strain off the remaining juice from the raisins. Add raisins.

6Bake on greased cookie sheet for 15 minutes @ 375o.
