Ingredients For fudgy oatmeal bars

2 cbrown sugar, packed

1 cunsalted butter, softened

1 tspvanilla

2eggs
-
2 1/2 call-purpose flour

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

3 cquick cooking (or regular) oats

2 Tbspunsalted butter
-
14 ozsweetened condensed milk
-
12 ozsemi-sweet chocolate chips
-
1 ctoasted pecans, chopped (or nuts of your choice)

1 tspvanilla
-
1/2 tspsalt
How To Make fudgy oatmeal bars

1Heat oven to 350 degrees.

2Mix brown sugar, 1 cup butter, 1 teasoon vanilla, and the eggs.

3Stir in flour, baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt; stir in oats.

4Reserve 1/3 of the oat mixture.

5Press remaining oat mixture in a greased jelly roll pan, 15 1/2×10 1/2×1 inch.

6Heat 2 tablespoons butter, the milk and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted; remove from heat.

7Stir in nuts, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon salt to chocolate mixture.

8Spread chocolate mixture over oat mixture in pan.

9Drop reserved oat mixture by rounded teaspoonfuls onto chocolate mixture.

10Bake unitl golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. Cut bars into about 2×1 inch, while warm. 70 bars; 135 calories per bar. *If using self-rising flour, omit baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
