I've been experimenting to make fusion type recipes that combined different cultures. This is a good use for tahini!

Ingredients For fruity fusion cookies

  • 1/4 c
    shortening
  • 3/4 c
    tahini
  • 1/2 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2/3 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 4 Tbsp
    toasted sesame seeds
  • 1/4 c
    dried apples, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp
    dried cherries

How To Make fruity fusion cookies

    Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease two baking sheets or line with parchment.

    Cream shortening, tahini, and sugar. Add egg and vanilla, beat well.

    Stir together flours, baking powder, baking soda and sesame seeds. Gradually add to creamed mixture.

    Fold in the apple and cherries until well blended.

    Drop by spoonfuls on prepared baking sheets. Bake 11 minutes. Cool 2 minutes on sheets, then remove to wire rack and cool completely.
