I got this recipe at a local apple festival a couple of years ago. These cookie bars are not overly sweet and the chunks of apple in them makes them chewy, fresh, and delicious.

Ingredients For fresh apple brownies

2/3 cbutter, room temperature

1 1/2 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

2 lgeggs

1 tspvanilla extract

2 cflour

1 tspcinnamon

2 tspbaking powder

1/4 tspsalt
-
1 cpeeled chopped apples
-
1 cchopped walnuts (optional)

powdered sugar
How To Make fresh apple brownies

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well. Add flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Stir well. Stir in apples and nuts.

2Spread batter into a greased 9 by 13 inch baking pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until brownies test done with a toothpick and slightly browned on top. Cool completely. Dust top of the brownies with powdered sugar and cut into 24 squares.
