This recipe card from Gramma Bea's box says it came from Grandma Z...that would be her Grandma Zimmerman. That would mean this recipe has been used by the family for over 125 years. Takes a bit of work to make these but they are pretty special when your done.

Ingredients For filled cookies

2 cbrown sugar

1 csweet cream (whipping cream works)

4 Tbspbutter

2 tspbaking powder

1 tspsoda

1 tspvanilla

3 1/2 cflour
How To Make filled cookies

1Make this filling before you mix up the cookies. It will need to cool before you can put it in the cookies. Filling 1 c. ground raisins 1 c. chopped dates 1 c. sugar with 2 T. flour 1 1/2 c. water. Boil until thick. Set aside to cool.

2Mix your cookies up and roll to 1/8" thickness. Cut into circles or squares. But a small spoonful of the filling in each cookie and fold over. Press the edges together so the filling stays inside. Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 min.
