Devil's food cake mix sandwiches a rich caramel and chocolate chip filling. These are wonderful rich brownies and anyone who likes carmel and chocolate will love these. They are so rich I separate them on wax paper and put them in freezer conatiners so I can take just a few out at a time.

Ingredients For devilish carmel fudge brownies

  • 1 pkg
    (18.5oz.) devil's food cake mix
  • 2/3 c
    regular or skimmed evaporated milk, divided
  • 12 Tbsp
    unsalted butter, or 1 1/2 sticks
  • 1 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 12 oz
    jar caramel ice cream topping
  • 3 Tbsp
    all-purpose flour
  • 12 oz
    1 package real semi-sweet chocolate chips

How To Make devilish carmel fudge brownies

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan. In mixing bowl with electric mixer, beat cake mix, 1/3 cup evaporated milk and butter for 1 minute. Mix in nuts. Press half the batter into prepared pan. Bake until set, 10 to 15 minutes. In a medium bowl, stir together caramel topping, flour and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Remove cake from oven and pour carmel mixture evenly over top. Sprinkle with 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. Crumble remaining cake mixture over the top. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until crysty. It will look underdone, but will firm up as it cools. Cool completely. Cut into squares. May be refrigerated up to 1 week or frozen.)
