cream cheese sugar cookies

I used to make these during the holidays and some I would cut out into shapes and let the kids ice them. But for the most part, I would make them as drop cookies and still have the kids ice some..They loved these sugar cookies. I found this recipe in a hometown paper years ago and thought it would be different with the cream cheese in it. It is the best I have had!

Ingredients For cream cheese sugar cookies

4 cflour
-
1 tspbaking powder
-
1/4 tspsalt

1/4 tspnutmeg

1/2 cbutter, softened

1/2 cshortening
-
8 ozcream cheese, one package

1 1/3 csugar
-
1egg
-
1/2 tspvanilla
How To Make cream cheese sugar cookies

1Preheat oven to 375 degrees

2Combine flour, baking powder, salt & nutmeg; set aside

3Cream butter and shortening; add cream cheese & sugar, beating til fluffy.

4Add egg & vanilla; beat well.

5Gradually beat in flour mix.

6Divide dough in half. Cover & chill 1-2 hours.

7On a lightly floured surface, roll dough 1/8 in. thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on cookie sheets,bake for 7-9 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Frost and decorate as desired.

8*Or scoop in tsp or tblsp (depending on how big you want them)flatten a bit and bake.
