A nice gift for the holidays. Choose a jar (1 quart or 1 liter) with a tight-fitting lid. Those jars with rubber rings and clamp lids are good. Print instructions on a recipe card and attach to the jar.

Ingredients For cranberry oatmeal cookies (gift in a jar)

5/8 call purpose flour

1/2 crolled oats

1/2 call purpose flour (note: flour is divided to make separate layers in the jar )1/2

1/2 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

1/3 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1/3 cgranulated sugar

1/2 cdried cranberries
-
1/2 cvanilla or white chocolate chips

1/2 cchopped pecans (or walnuts)
- FOR BAKING (DO NOT INCLUDE IN JAR):

1/2 cunsalted butter, softened

1 lgegg

1 tspvanilla extract

1Carefully layer the ingredients in a 1 quart or 1 liter jar, in the order listed. (Flour through pecans)

4Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies 1/2 cup butter, softened 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla contents of jar Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease a cookie sheet or line it with parchment paper. In a medium mixing bowl, beat together butter, egg and vanilla until fluffy. Add the entire jar of ingredients, and mix together by hand until well blended. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Cool for 2 minutes on baking sheets, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
