Chocolate and Cherries! YUM!!! These cookies almost taste like those cherry cordial candies!

Ingredients For chocolate cherry drops

  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 3
    1 oz ea. squares unsweetened baking chocolate, melted
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    chopped maraschino cherries, drained (reserve 3 tbsp juice)
  • FROSTING
  • 1 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1
    1 oz square unsweetened baking chocolate, melted
  • 2 Tbsp
    sour cream
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 24
    maraschino cherries, cut in half (48 halves)

How To Make chocolate cherry drops

    Heat oven to 375 degrees Lightly grease cookie sheet Set aside.

    In large mixing bowl combine brown sugar, 1/2 c butter, 1/2 c sour cream, 3 squares melted chocolate, the egg and vanilla. Beat at medium speed until well blended. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Beat at low speed until soft dough forms. Stir in the chopped cherries.

    Drop dough by heaping teaspoons 2 inches apart onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until set. Cool completely.

    In medium mixing bowl combine powdered sugar, melted chocolate, sour cream and butter. Beat on low speed until smooth. Spread frosting evenly on cookies. Garnish with a cherry half in the middle of the cookie frosting. Let dry completely before storing.
