1/2 cbutter, softened

3/4 csugar

1/8 tspsalt

3eggs

1/2 tspalmond extract

5 to 7drops red and/or green food coloring, if desired

24 ozsweetened flaked coconut

3 Tbsppowdered sugar
How To Make chewy holiday macaroons

1Heat oven to 325 degrees

2Combine butter, sugar and salt in a large bowl; beat at medium speed until creamy. Add eggs, almond extract, and food coloring, if desired; continue beating until well mixed. Stir in coconut with a wooden spoon and mix well.

3Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls, onto parchment paper lined or greased cookie sheets. Bake 20 to 22 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Let stand 5 minutes on cookie sheets, then remove to cooling rack. Cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
