You could use whatever dried fruit you prefer: Blueberries, cranberries, a mix... Got the idea from my Land O'Lakes baking book. Followed the original recipe quite closely.

Ingredients For cherry vanilla bars

1/2 csugar

1/3 cbutter, softened

1/4 cbrown sugar

1egg
-
1 tspvanilla

1 cflour
-
1/2 tspbaking powder

1/2 cdried cherries, coursely chopped

1/2 cwhite baking chips

1/2 cchopped pecans
- DRIZZLE

1/4 cwhite baking chips

1/2 tspshortening
How To Make cherry vanilla bars

1Heat oven to 350. Grease 8" square pan.

2Combine sugar, butter, brown sugar, egg and vanilla in large bowl. Add flour and baking powder. Beat until well mixed.

3Stir in cherries, chips and pecans.

4Spread evenly into prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.

5Make drizzle by melting chips and shortening in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until mostly melted; then stir until smooth.

6Drizzle over bars. Cool completely and cut into bars.
