Ingredients For caramel nut squares
- CRUST

2 1/4 call-purpose flour

1/2 cgranulated sugar

3/4 cbutter, cold
- CARAMEL LAYER

3/4 cbutter
-
1 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

3 Tbsplight corn syrup
-
3/4 csweetened condensed milk
-
1/2 cwalnut pieces
- TOPPING
-
1 csemi-sweet chocolate chips
-
2 Tbspbutter, cold
How To Make caramel nut squares

1Mix flour, sugar, and 3/4 cup butter until crumbly like cornmeal.

2Pat into an ungreased 13" x 9" pan.

3Bake at 350 F for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool.

4Bring 3/4 cup butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and sweetened condensed milk to a boil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

5Boil for 5 minutes, stirring until thickened slightly.

6Stir nuts into caramel.

7Pour over baked crust.

8Cool.

9Melt chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons butter in a double boiler over hot water until smooth.

10Pour over cooled caramel and spread evenly. Cool.

11Cut into 2" squares. Makes 24 squares.
