My daughter and I created this recipe while we were baking cookies to send to the Army Hospital in Afghanistan for Thanksgiving. We couldn't believe how deliciously they turned out!

Ingredients For caramel apple oatmeal squares

1 cbutter or margarine

1 cbrown sugar

1 cgranulated sugar

1 1/2 tspbaking soda

1 tspsalt

2eggs
-
1 tspvanilla extract

1 call purpose flour

3 cold-fashioned oatmeal

6-oz pkgcaramel chips

1 cchopped dried apples

1/4 craw sugar
How To Make caramel apple oatmeal squares

1Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl, cream together butter or margarine and sugars.

2Add baking soda, salt, eggs, vanilla; blend well.

3Stir in flour and oatmeal until all dry ingredients are moistened. Add chips and apples.

4Line 9 x 13"baking pan with foil, spray with cooking spray. Press dough into pan, sprinkle top with raw or coarse sparkling sugar. Bake 25-30 minutes, until lightly browned; center will be slightly sunken and soft to touch. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then use foil to transfer to cooling rack. Cut into bars when completely cooled.
