This recipe is from an old Fannie Farmer Cookbook I bought not long after I married. My Dad and my husband loved them so I would make them every year at Christmas and in-between. They are chewy and nourishing. Give them a try!

Ingredients For cape cod oatmeal cookies

1 1/2 cflour

1/2 tspbaking soda

1 tspcinnamon

1/2 tspsalt

1egg, lightly beaten

1 csugar

1/2 cmelted shortening

1/2 cmelted butter
-
1 Tbspmolasses
-
1/4 cwhole milk
-
1 3/4 cuncooked oatmeal

1/2 craisins which have been soaked in vanilla to soften

1/2 cchopped nuts (i make with pecans - use your favorite)
How To Make cape cod oatmeal cookies

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2Mix the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt together in a large bowl. Stir in the remaining ingredients.

3Arrange by teaspoonfuls on unbuttered cookie sheets and bake until the edges are brown, about 12 minutes.
