I haven't made these in quite some time, but they are delicious. I used mini chocolate chips on these also and were so good. Any candy topping would work. Enjoy! The recipe came from my TOH Oct/Nov 2004 issue.

Ingredients For candy - topped bars

1 call-purpose flour

1/3 cpacked brown suga

1/2 ccold butter

1/2 cchopped pecans

1(8 ounces) cream cheese, softened

1/4 csugar

1egg
-
2 Tbspmilk
-
1 Tbsplemon juice
-
1/2 tspvanilla extract

How To Make candy - topped bars

1In a large bowl, combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in pecans. Press crumb mixture into a greased 9-in. square pan. Bake at 350° for 12-15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

2In a bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar. Add egg, milk, lemon juice and vanilla; mix well. Pour over warm crust.

3Bake for 25-30 minutes or until set. Immediately sprinkle with M&M's. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars. Refrigerate leftovers.
