Also called powdered sugar cookies. These are excellent! Make these at Christmas for sure! For a double recipe, I use 1 1/2 cups butter and 1/2 cup home-rendered lard.

Ingredients For butter ball cookies

1 cpowdered sugar

2 cflour

1/2 tspbaking soda

1 tspcream of tartar

1 cchopped nutmeats

1 cbutter, room temperature

1egg

1/2 tspsalt

1 tspvanilla extract
How To Make butter ball cookies

1Mix like pie crust; add egg, salt, vanilla.

2Stir nutmeats into dough or top each with a half of a pecan.

3Roll into walnut-size balls. Flatten very slightly.

4Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Cool. Roll in powdered sugar. Store in airtight container.
