1 craisins

1 cwater

1/2 cshortening

1 lgegg, slightly beaten

1 csugar

1/4 tspsalt

1 3/4 call purpose flour

1 tspbaking soda

1 tspcinnamon

1 tspnutmeg

1 tspallspice

1/2 tspcloves

1 cchopped walnuts

2-3 Tbsppowdered sugar
How To Make beth bowen's spicy cookie bars

1Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9 by 13 inch pan and set aside. In a saucepan bring the water and raisins to a boil and boil for 3 minutes. Allow to col to lukewarm.

2Meanwhile mix shortening, egg, and sugar together. Set aside. In another bowl stir together all remaining unused ingredients except nuts and powdered sugar. Stir in raisins and shortening mixture. Finally stir in nuts.

3Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 15-18 minutes. When cool dust with powdered sugar and cut into 24 bars.
