autumn apple butter bars

I have jars of apple butter that I put up last year. Today I played around with a very old recipe and came up with the perfect way to use up "some" of my apple butter. Notice I didn't say "all". Just another creative way to use goods I've put up. While I used my homemade apple butter, you can purchase apple butter in the grocery store to bake up a batch of these bars. The aroma of these bars baking, is intoxicating.

Ingredients For autumn apple butter bars

1 3/4 call purpose flour

1/2 tspsalt

1/2 tspbaking soda

1 tspcinnamon, ground

1 1/2 cquick cooking oatmeal

1 cbrown sugar

1 cbutter, melted
-
1 capple butter
How To Make autumn apple butter bars

1Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease 13 X 9 inch pan.

2In a large bowl, whisk together all dry ingredients. Add melted butter and mix until crumbly.

3Press 1/2 of the crumb mixture into bottom of prepared baking pan; spread evenly with apple butter. Top with remaining crumb mixture; press lightly.

4Bake 30 minutes until light brown. Remove from oven; cool and then cut into bars.
