These are almost better after they have been sitting for a while. They have a crisp outside with a soft middle. The blended oats add a fabulous chewy texture. I got this recipe from http://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/2009/09/neiman-marcus-cookie.html I hope you enjoy these cookies too!

Ingredients For authentic nieman marcus bars

  • 1 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    real vanilla, not imitation
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 1/2 c
    oats, regular
  • 1 1/2 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 oz
    milk chocolate candy bars, coarsely chopped
  • 1 c
    pecans, chopped

How To Make authentic nieman marcus bars

    Preheat oven to 375°. This is a thick dough. If you have a KitchenAid, use it.

    Measure oatmeal, and blend in a blender or food processor to a fine powder. Cream the butter and both sugars. Add eggs and vanilla, mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda. Stir in chocolate chips, milk chocolate bar, and pecans.

    Roll into balls, and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet. *I always use parchment paper. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly on baking sheets. Then, remove to wire racks to cool completely.
