Can't remember where this recipe originated, but I do know that my family has been making them for years especially around the holidays.

Ingredients For aunt cassie's date balls

2-8 ozpackages pitted dates

8 Tbspbutter
-
1 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

4 Tbspwater

1 tspvanilla extract

2 crice crispies
How To Make aunt cassie's date balls

1Mix together in a 12" saucepan dates, butter, brown sugar and water. Cook over medium-high heat for 10-12 minutes or until thickens to a paste.

2Remove from heat and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix in 2 cups Rice Crispies.

3Allow mixture to cool to touch and then roll into small balls. Roll balls in shredded coconut or powdered sugar.

4Makes about 48 balls.
