almond rolls, grandma w's

Grandma W made biscotti dough with fig center, a very Sicilian cookie. I never liked the figs, so she made this for me. I always got my very own special batch of these yummy cookies. Even when she moved into assisted living, Grandma arranged to make them at a relative's house and sent them to me. After she passed, I made some with my friend Mark, in biscuit rounds. It was like Grandma gave me a hug, and showed me once more that I was special to her. That is what these cookies are to me, a special hug from my Grandma.

2NOTE: I have also cut these out into circles, filled and pressed edges shut to have half moon shaped cookies. They are less messy to eat on Mark's way home if I bake them this way!
