Ingredients For almond cookies

1 1/2 call-purpose flour

1/4 tspbaking soda

1/4 tspcream of tartar

1/2 cbutter, softened

1/4 cvegetable shortening

1/2 csugar

1 lgegg yolk

1/2 tspvanilla extract

1/2 tspalmond extract

How To Make almond cookies

1Heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar - mix well.

2Beat the butter and shortening in a large mixer bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Beat in the sugar and egg yolk - mix well.

3With the mixer on low speed, add the flour mixture. Beat until a soft dough is formed. Shape rounded teaspoons of dough into balls and place on a baking sheet. If the dough is too soft to handle, chill for 30 minutes. Place an almond in the center of each cookie.

4Bake 11-14 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 1-2 minutes. Remove and cool on wire cooling racks.
