My favorite kind of brownie is one that has frosting. These are good to bring to a potluck because they make lots.

Ingredients For texas brownies

2 call-purpose flour

2 cgranulated sugar

1/2 cbutter or margarine

1/2 cshortening
-
1 cstrong brewed coffee or water

1/4 cunsweetened cocoa

1/2 cbuttermilk
-
2eggs
-
1 tspbaking soda

1 tspvanilla
- FROSTING:

1/2 cbutter or margarine
-
2 Tbspdark cocoa
-
1/4 cmilk
-
3 1/2 cunsifted powdered sugar

1 tspvanilla
How To Make texas brownies

1Combine flour and sugar in a large bowl. Combine butter, shortening, coffee or water, cocoa in a large heavy saucepan. Stir and heat to boiling.

2Pour boiling mixture over dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla. Mix well with a wooden spoon. You can also use an electric mixer on high.

3Pour into a well-greased 17 1/2x11 inch jelly roll pan. Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees or until brownies test done.

4Prepare frosting while brownies bake. Combine butter, cocoa, and milk. Heat to boiling, stirring. Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.

5Pour warm frosting over the brownies as soon as you take them out of the oven. Cool and cut into 48 bars.
