There are many variations to this recipe. I created this one because I usually have a can of sweetened condensed milk on hand for sweet tooth emergencies. This is great for an afterschool or late night snack too!!! :0)

If you've never had chocolate gravy, you must try this Southern treat. This is an extremely easy chocolate gravy recipe that turns out perfect. Mixing the flour and cocoa into the condensed milk before turning on the heat, makes it easier to get a smooth consistency. It turns out chocolaty and sweet and is amazing poured over hot buttered biscuits. Enjoy this for dessert or an indulgent breakfast.

Ingredients For shawn's chocolate gravy

  • 1 can
    sweetened condensed milk, 14 oz.
  • 3 Tbsp
    (heaping) cocoa powder
  • 3 Tbsp
    all-purpose flour
  • 2 c
    hot water
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla or coconut flavoring

How To Make shawn's chocolate gravy

  • Pouring condensed milk into a skillet.

    Pour sweetened condensed milk into a skillet.
  • Flour and cocoa added to the condensed milk.

    Add flour and cocoa powder.
  • Mixing the condensed milk, flour, and cocoa.

    Using the back of a large cooking spoon, mix ingredients together thoroughly mashing all the lumps out with the spoon.
  • Adding hot water to the condensed milk.

    Add hot water, stirring well.
  • Whisking boiling condensed milk.

    Heat to boiling on medium heat stirring constantly.
  • Adding butter to the mixture.

    When gravy thickens, remove from heat and add butter and vanilla/flavoring.
  • Spooning chocolate gravy over biscuits.

    Spoon over crumbled biscuits and Enjoy!
