Okay, you purist's this is not really Paleo because we use raw sugar instead of honey, or fruit to sweeten this, but it is gluten and casein free and we make it grain free - so change it if you want or whatever- we like it :) This is my daughter Maxine's recipe- she has perfected it till its decadent and "Freakin' Awesome"! We like it best with just almond meal because its gooey and fudgey, if that's too gooey for you replace some of the almond meal with coconut flour till it's just how you like it. If you prefer crispier edges use all coconut flour.

Ingredients For freakin' awesome paleo (inspired) brownies

  • 2/3 c
    organic raw cocoa powder
  • 2 c
    unblanched almond meal or coconut flour (or any combination of the two)
  • 1/2 tsp
    sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    xanthan gum
  • 1/2 tsp
    aluminum free baking powder
  • 2 c
    raw sugar
  • 3/4 c
    melted coconut organic oil
  • 3
    free range or organic eggs
  • 2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 3/4 c
    organic or natural peanut butter *optional

How To Make freakin' awesome paleo (inspired) brownies

    Preheat the oven to 350 F - grease a 13"x9" size pan. Or use parchment paper.

    Mix dry ingredients including sugar.

    Add wet ingredients, mixing well.
  • 4
    Pour into a prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the sides pull away from the pan and the top cracks.
