Ingredients For chocolate filled walnut oatmeal bars

1 cbutter or margarine softened

2 clight brown sugar packed

2eggs

1 tspvanilla extract

1/2 tspinstant coffee granules-optional

3 cquick cooking oats
-
2 1/2 call purpose flour
-
1 tspbaking soda
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1 1/2 cchopped walnuts, divided
- CHOCOLATE FILLING

1/2 cbutter or margarine

2/3 ccocoa powder
-
1/4 csugar
-
114 oz. can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)

1 1/2 tspvanilla extract
How To Make chocolate filled walnut oatmeal bars

1Heat oven to 350. Beat butter and brown sugar until well blended. Add eggs, vanilla and instant coffee(if using), beat 'til fluffy.

2Stir together oats, flour, baking soda, salt and 1 cup walnuts. Gradually stir into butter mixture, will be thick.

3Set aside 2 cups of dough. Press remaining dough into a 15-1/2x10-1/2 greased jelly roll pan.

4Prepare filling by melting butter in medium sauce pan over medium low heat. Stir in cocoa and sugar. Add condensed milk and continuously stir until smooth and thick. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Spread over dough evenly.

5Crumble reserved dough over top and sprinkle with 1/2 cup walnuts. Bake for 25 mins. or until golden brown (chocolate will be soft). Allow to cool before cutting.
