Ingredients For caramel peanut butter bars

  • COOKIE BASE:
  • 1 pkg
    sugar cookie mix
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1
    egg
  • 15
    miniature chocolate covered peanut butter cup candies, coarsely chopped
  • FILLING:
  • 36
    caramels, unwrapped
  • 1 can
    sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
  • 1/4 c
    creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 c
    peanuts
  • TOPPING:
  • 1 bottle
    rich & creamy milk chocolate frosting
  • 1/2 c
    peanuts, chopped

How To Make caramel peanut butter bars

    First pre heat oven to 350F. Then spray bottom & sides of 13x9 inch pan with cooking spray. Then in large bowl stir cookie mix, butter & egg until soft dough forms. Then stir in candies & press dough in bottom of the pan. Then bake 18 to 20 mins or until light golden brown.

    Next in a 2 quart saucepan heat caramels & milk over medium heat & make sure to stir constantly until caramels are melted. Then stir in the peanut butter. Then heat to boiling. Then cook 2 mins, stirring frequently. Remove from heat & stir in 1/2 cup peanuts & spread over warm cookie base. Let cool completely for about 2 hours.

    Then spread the frosting evenly over filling. Then sprinkle with the chopped peanuts. Refrigerate about 2 hours or until chilled. Then to make the bars cut 9 rows by 4 rows. Then store covered in refrigerator.
