My mother in law and I both love the Murder She Baked books and show on the television...so when I was looking through her recipes and found this one, I was happy. She wrote on her recipe card that it came from one of the books... but it could actually be a recipe she used as a bookmark! LOL

2 tspvanilla

1/2 csalted nut pieces

2 sticksalted butter
How To Make vanilla crack

1Oven to 350 degrees, rack in middle position.

2Line 10x15x1" cookie sheet with heavy duty foil. Spray foil with PAM. Cover completely with single layer of crackers, salt side up. Set aside to cook topping.

3Combine butter, sugar and vanilla in heavy saucepan. Bring to full boil over med-high heat, stirring constantly (it will have breaking bubbles all over surface of pan). Boil for exactly 5 min, stirring constantly. If it sputters too much, reduce heat. If it starts to loose the boil, increase heat. JUST DO NOT STOP STIRRING!!!

4Pour mixture over crackers as evenly as you can. Sprinkle nut pieces over top. Slide pan in oven and bake 10 min. Remove pan from oven, cool on wire rack. When completely cool, peel off foil and break into random sized pieces.
