Loving Toffee, when I found this one in NC going through Momma's recipes (so no idea who Minnie is...lol) I found this one! It is in Momma's handwriting (Barb)

Ingredients For toffee, minnie's

  • 1 c
    chopped black walnuts (i would use pecans, i don't like walnuts)
  • 3/4 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c
    semisweet chocolate chips

How To Make toffee, minnie's

  • 1
    Butter an 8x8. Sprinkle nuts on bottom. In 1 1/2 quart saucepan, combine brown sugar and butter or margarine. Cook over med heat to soft crack stage (290 degrees), stirring often. Remove from heat and spread over nuts in bottom of pan. Sprinkle chocolate on top, let stand 1-2 min. When chocolate is softened, spread evenly over toffee.

    Chill thoroughly. Break into pieces.
